Jakov

The Huntsman, a murky figure from an even murkier past, whose loss we all still feel years later.
For centuries, he walked alone through moonlit forests, sun-lost caves, and frigid mountain peaks, tracking, hunting, and killing any beings that would endanger civilization. He never faltered in this task, not during the Long Night, nor Hound Blight, nor Demonic Incursion.
But he wasn't infaliable, and he was wise enough to know that. He trained a generation, no, several generations of hunters to succeed him. Without him, and the guild he founded, the world would've fallen to outside threats long long ago.
Then, one day, he simply vanished. And where he went, none can say for sure, but among his apprentices it is that that he continues the hunt in lands yet uknown.

Hunter's Eye
The Hunter must keep a sleepless, watchful eye, for the enemy strikes where it is least expected.
It is a rare few that can escape the piercing gaze of the huntsman; he can see through most forms of illusion and invisibility, and is unnaturally keen to small details, especially in body language and subtle movements. He sees in darkness almost as well as in daylight.
It goes without saying he is a peerless tracker.

Lost Wisdom
The Hunter must know all there is to know about the enemy, both within and without.
While far from omniscient, the huntsman is very well-travelled (at least in his homeworld), and finds himself comfortable in a wide-variety of hostile environments. He is not bothered by extreme cold or heat, nor dank swamps or dry deserts.
His work has lead him to an encylopedic level of knowledge of all that walks on 4 legs... and many that don't.
He is a skilled duelist who fights primarily with a longsword, but is experienced with a variety of weaponry.
In years past, he would often use nature magic to attack foes at range, but within the last century he has taken to sniping with a unique, experimental bolt-action rifle.

On Dark Wings
If the enemy takes to the air, the Hunter must follow.
The Huntsman can assume the form of an enormous Raven to pursue his quarry. While in this form, he can fly at breakneck speeds for long periods of time. He's loathe to do this unless necessary, as doing so is physically taxing and compromises the element of surprise.

Big Black Death
The Hunter must keep in mind an old truth: sometimes, man must become a monster to kill a monster.
While he may assume an (unnatural) humanoid form, the Huntsman is, at a fundamental level, composed of a caustic, tar-like substance. When circumstances demand it, he can unleash this against his foes - causing sickness and blindness, and eventually death. This "black blood" kills plants, rusts metal, and is generally extremely toxic. To a normal human, even brief exposure can be dangerous. Fortunately, he is able to keep it contained. Most of the time.
There are less dangerous uses, though:

• He can blur his outline, making him harder to see or hit, and can, given time, pass through small gaps in obstacles.
• He can also conjure smaller (albeit still abnormally large) ravens from the tar that composes his hair.
  These "familiars" are often used to chase and corner his prey, as well as keep watch on locations.
• One raven, larger than the others, is named Maciej. Unlike the others, which are essentially remotely-controlled, Maciej is completely autonomous, and can communicate telepathically with it's master. It even has something resembling a personality.

Anathema
The Hunter is never truly at home, except for on the hunt.
The Huntsman is a deeply unnatural creature, and his mere presence drives many animals to flee. Stealthy as he is, he has no way of surpressing his dark aura, which is palpable even to many psychically unattuned people. This tends to restrict his ability to operate around other people, even for relatively short periods of time.
That said, if one could overcome their fight or flight response (or be foolhardy enough to not have one), they will find that he is not altogether unpleasant to speak to.

Call of the Void
The Hunter must always remember that the enemy within trumps the one without.
The Huntsman is in many ways a monster himself. He is compelled - both by hunger and by inclination - to always seek out other monsters. While he can avoid this obligation for days at a time, doing so is dangerous, as his otherworldly strength could very easily turn against those that would otherwise count themselves among his allies. Will a starving beast not lash out at anything it can reach?

O My Heart
Despite his dark task, and darker visage, the Hunter is not entirely inhuman.
The Huntsman has a surprisingly robust set of morals, and while he is loathe to admit it, his soft heart ocassionally compromises his mission.
